Posting War Data

Not much going on - helped some people get through ToAU missions so we can start salvage soon. My war was out damaged by a ranger, =( however i did spend 3 fights face down eating dirt.

Caught me showing a little Taru leg.

I was just behind the ranger in damage but i think i would have passed him had i been alive for the other 3 fights.

The Black Coffin

Yesterday, a few of us finished up with some of the ToAH missions so that we may take part in Salvage. It was a conglomerate of Moogle Army members and Rayneblood, a Guts member. We first completed ToAH Mission 13 which is an easy NM fight to get a coin to allow us onto the Black Coffin, the dreaded pirate ship lurking in the waters around Aht Urhgan.

Once complete, we headed off toward the Black Coffin. Sadly, it involved a staging point which I did not have - the last of mine to get. So, I slowed everyone down as I marched my little Tarutaru butt through the undead invested regions of the Mire and the Reef to get my Runic Portal. On the way, a Soulflayer decided to True Sound me and start casting Thunder IV on me. I ran out of range, without ever losing Sneak and Invisible, and continued. He chased me through the Reef, but continued to try to cast long duration spells, allowing me to always run away before the spell cast. Anyway, I made it to the point without further incident, even with Mr. Sunshine on my heels. (You may note that the link shows that a Soulflayer is 'True Sight'. Needless to say, he aggroed me from behind his back. Some people say there are literally true sight and true sound mobs. That being the case, this one is definitely sound based, or both.)

Once at the Black Coffin, we watched the cutscenes then tried to enter. Flotsam was missing the coin so he had to drop and we tried it with only 5 people. The only healer, other than the PLD's own healing skills, was a BLM. The basic plan was Jedi (WAR) and myself (THF) were to duo the mobs while the PLD, BLM and DRK focused on another. Jedi and I rocked through two of the mobs while Maddox (BLM) was on sleep/heal/nuke duty. We easily got through the first wave but failed to allow the BLM to rest MP back before taking on the second wave of undead. The captain was at around 50% HP when we wiped. We just didn't have enough healing power, and failed to sleep the second group as easily as the first.

We all returned to get some coins and fought the mission again, with only 5 - we picked up Flotsam (BLM) and lost a DRK. The fight went very smoothly with no difficulty.

Congratulations to everyone for a fun fight.

RE: Flot's Warmazing!!

In response to Flotsam's "Flot's Warmazing!" post, I submit exhibit A:

( ... and on a beetle, no less - lol)
(I know I am an ass haha)

Flotsam And Jetsam Meet Death From Above

Flot decided to help me camp for my Hornetneedle, although I am very beyond the point on my THF where I should be using it. There are other alternatives at this point, but I still wanted it in my /inv.

Death From Above is a popped spawn, but we had no idea he hit like he did. Imagine a MNK using 100 Fists then haste about 100%. This thing was like a chipmonk on crack.

But, Flotsam summed it up very eloquently, as he always does. =)

Git, Goobbue!

No! This is my tree root and you can't have it, betch!

(me playing with Goobbues)

I am alive, but Balu isn't

I can't let Flotsam post all the posts. But, my FFXI time has been fairly boring. Balu and I have been spending a lot of time out in M.Coast hunting Odqan for my elusive Bravo Subligar. While I know he has a very shitty drop rate, he is still fun to camp. Although, it is very hard sometimes to know if it is foggy out. I only know because I can see other Clusters on widescan.

Here is my trusted companion, sporting some fine Seer Slacks which looks awesome with his Gold Armor set.

Here are some fun shots of Balu and I fighting him. Sadly, Balu fell in battle once when Odqan whipped out a Self-Destruct early in the fight.

Flot's Warmazing!!

I am almost to the point where i will be temp stopping at 40ish range for my AF weapon and to allow time for old gear to sell and obtaining new gear. Being a war is very fun i can do massive damage and have much more survivability than a BLM. The party invites are very slow i was expecting a higher invite rate.

This was by far my best weapon skill damage.
Just ding'd over to 39 on my way to 40. WOOT.

Corpse and his RDM AF

Corpse was also in need of some AF mob killing, so we headed over to Davoi. After running for days it seemed we arrived at the spot killed a couple mobs and waited for NM to spawn. Killed him quickly and Corpse got his RDM AF.

"Peck"ing on Dark Spark

So Peck and Deana, both needed Dark Spark. When we get there we are talking about what TP moves he does, i forget who said that he will self-destruct but i had never seen it, so we assumed it was a very rare thing. We start fighting and then about 10% left he decides to self-destruct. We all lived so it was fun times, and everyone got the AF they needed. I will see you soon also Dark Spark when i come for my War AF.

The Amazing FLOT!

My party last night consisted of 2 PL's, 2 war's (one was me), 1 NIN, 1 PLD/nin, 1 Cor, 1 BLM/smn who was dual boxing with one of the PL's. My goal here was to keep pace with the Elvaan War/NIN and me as a Taru War/THF.

Damage wise i think i held my own. I almost achieved my goal of level 35 War last night. If we hadn't taken so long to get started i might have gotten to 35.

New Parser

Kalia has released a new parser which looks cleaner than Tazz's. Also, Kalia's updates immediately as you play.

You can get the new parser here. Or, you can visit the blog for the parser here.

I have yet to try it, but it is getting glowing reviews; we will see later tonight hopefully.

UPDATE: After messing around with the parser, I can say it has potential, but it is still fairly new and missing some nice things. It doesn't parse everything, for one, which is a big issue. Thus, if you want a fully parsed fight you need to use another parser. But, it is good if you want to see things like your ACC, your damage (remember you can't really compare it to other party members at this point) and things like that. Overall, I think it will be better than the other parsers out there once it is done.

Taking up Warrior

My love for warrior has caused me to stop lvling THF and sell all my THF gear. I can tell u this my THF compared to my WAR at this lvl are so far apart in damage its not funny. Now one thing that hurt me was when i got a PT i was in a rush so my gear isn't as uber as it should have been. Warrior's weapon skills are very heavy on the STR part so i have to get a STR build, for my WS and maybe just normal melee's. So for now this is my current parsed data not bad but does need work.

Get Your Parse On!

I saw that some people wanted information about the parser Flot and I have been using. You can download it at www.lildevilproductions.net.

Remember, this parser is passive - meaning, it doesn't actively do anything with FFXI. It reads log files that FFXI generates. So, you do not need to worry about getting in trouble from SE by using this parser, as it doesn't read FFXI memory, or alter any FFXI related items.

Props to Tazz for this parser - it is very nice.

Spike Damage Master!

So over the weekend i started playing with THF i had tested out my acc and damage b4 merits and after merits. I had put enough merits into dagger that i had viper bite two levels early, 31 instead of 33. Lets just say that the poor mandys had no clue what was going on. These mandys were mostly IT to IT - a couple were VT ++.

My first viper bite was at 450ish, this was my second one.

This was my third viper bite.

Had to cut and paste my parsed data since i parsed so much data. The first screen is before any merits.

This is my first party after merits. When i was getting 450+ viper bites.

Xp Party

I think i have found the true power of soloing on my BLM. With my XP ring on i would make over 1k in two kills.

Raja I am your Faja.

So finally the other day i finished all of my cut scenes, so that i could finally obtain one of the best rings in the game. COP has been a great experience, loved each mission pretty much. I am looking forward to limbus and getting my AF +1.
So i figured since everyone seems to like this area, which it is nice i would also take a screen shot while i am there so here are two.

Getting Closer!!

Ok first off we just updated our blog to the new beta seems to be pretty cool.

Last night we had the goal set of taking out the 4 pots and Promethia. I had heard terrible things about the 4 pots BC. But before i get into that i have some random pics of the journey.

The Eo'ghrah have 4 form's sorry i didn't get a pic of all 4 but u will understand all of them but the ball for agro.

This is top of one tower i think Hume tower. We had to climb 3 which made the event a tad longer than normal, but so much fun.

Playing with pots and magic bursting fun.

Be warned there are spoiler pic's here.

So we finally get to the pots and we get our game plan Elemental Seal + Sleepga II on the pots they are supposed to be weak to black magic, so we will see. The four pots are made of 2 pairs a pair of smaller sized BLM's in the back and a pair of normal sized RDM's in the front.

We zone in and we let Xephir our mnk/nin agro the 4 pots and get them together so that we can sleep them. Our next goal is to take out the BLM's before we wipe. So we had a SC in place Xephir lets go of his WS i start casting my thunder IV and Draco our THF doesn't use his WS so no Skill Chain and no Magic Burst for extra damage. =( However, Thunder IV does lands for about 1100. After that the mobs hit points are dropped to around 10%, one quick nuke and WS from Draco and we move on to the second BLM pot. After about 30% of damage the other pots wake up we are attempting to sleep them and fight the last one i believe we get one slept but shortly after defeating the second pot and last of the BLM's we wipe but this was planned for. Creb our RDM wisely landed BIO III, and Poison II on one of the pots b4 we wiped after they move back to the starting position's we re raise back up and as we wait for weakness we watch that pots HP drop and drop and drop and drop those two enfeebs removed about 5% of HP. These pots don't regen life if they don't retreat if they just go back to start because of wipe they wont regen. So after weakness wears melees use Opo necklace and sleeping pots we have a WHM Elemental Seal Sleep the 2nd pot and we go all out on the third one, right after draco uses TP he dies. He never put up shadows and got one-shoted. So we are down to 5 ppl and 1 pot we rocked it with in a minute.

Onto Promethia, group shot from the outside here.

This is a couple of Screen shots during the cut scene's and the floor in the fight.

Promethia as the first and second form.I forgot to add the pic of me getting credit for defeating promitha but will add later.

Rebuilding Buffer and becoming stronger.

So after the many COP fights I have gone thru in the past month i really needed to XP my BLM back up. So I set out on a mission and LFP while killing puddings. I kill my first pudding and i get a tell asking to join party i agree and the party has a BRD and RDM, thinking to myself this will be lovely and it was. Went from 14k to 19k in a matter of mins and was able to switch back over to merits. I had 1 merit left over from a previous meriting session and earned enough to gain 1 more merit. I am wanting to test my damage with the extra merit and see how much each merit is worth roughly. My current Thunder IV with 1 merit was doing 1262 to puddings, this was the most consistant number that i get on non-lighting days. So tomorrow before we start our finial push for Rings i am going to test my Thunder IV against puddings, rumor has it that each merit add's 2% so 1262 * 2% = 25.24 so not bad another 25 points of damage.
