Shark Bite

Just a quick post to update my progress of leveling THF. I learned Shark Bite but really never got to try it until a party last night.

Fun stuff.

The party was a fun mix too; Japanese and English. Had a blast guys!

COP and more COP

Sorry in advance the images are not the best this time. So past couple of nights we have finished up snoll fight i think for almost everyone on it. Congrats to Fusionx, MdKiller, and Thimble for clear.
The airship battle this is the one that people talk about when they do COP, this fight and snoll so far have been the most challengeing but also the most rewarding.

So my group attempted Airship fight again. The first time we went thru we were doing a "dry run". However since we took the mammets so well we kept going. For our first run we were doing really well on time. We get to the last weapon and are doing great. Couple things could have been better but overall not bad. We get him down to 3% before running out of time. So we all come out talk about battle get a plan going and come back for the next day. We go in more cofident and ready for action. Wipe at like 30% on the last weapon. We did worse with more experience. So since it was still early in the day we decided to stay in the area and wait for our two hour job abilites to come back. Everyone gets back and we head in this time we ROCK it. What seemed to be a longer fight on mammets and the first weapon was actually our best times.

The Mammets are not "hard" but do pose a challenge. We followed the tatic of pld run's in and sight aggros all 5. This would allow for cure bomb's on to the tank with no hate problems since no hate was given just agro. The Nin and Thf woudl pick them off 1 by 1. Since the best weapon skills were Blade: Jin and Danceing Edge we decided to use those and burst Aero. Wasn't bad damage but just wish i had an Wind Staff.

On to the first weapon. These guys are both rough with a good tank and some hate control they are farily easy. We hanlded both of these guys with 5 CCB polymers total. Fairly easy to keep tanks and mages far enough apart. I was able to land all of my enfeebs everytime on him. Bio II, Shock, Choke, Burn, Posion II was resisted a couple of times but it did land. Stuck with the same weapon skill's as b4 and with TParty plugin it allowed me to time nukes accordingly.

This guy was a little easier with only spamming AOE's around the 40% mark small raidus but annoying enough. Landing all of my enfeebs on him was a tad tougher so i did them in a different order. Bio II, Burn, Choke, Shock, Posion II. Almost never resisted when ordered this way. I wish i had fixed my chat log's to filter out some of the content because on this fight i couldn't keep up with when the enfeebs wore so i woudl have to sometimes recast them because they hadn't wore off yet. Overall this fight was very annoying but was so, very much fun.

Getting one step closer this is from one of the cut scene's after airship battle.

Started working on CS's last night but was late and ran out of time. I plan on getting buffer back some tonight and getting some more merits.

P.S. This post isnt the best, was up late with sick kids, sick myself, and tired, sorry.

CoP, Tigers and Bears oh my!

This is just a short update we have so much more going on. I plan to go back and pick up Jetsam he is on Diabolos currently, and i have ppl who will go back and help.

So now we have about 10 people who are all close to each other in missions. Some of us just finished 3 paths and others have a couple fights to go. Here are a couple of screens, i will get betters ones the next trip thru i was a little to nervous this time. ^^

The moblin fight or bugbby or something i forget his name. I have done this fight 3 times the first two times was easy we had a couple vokes and very easy that way. The 3rd time we only had 1 voke so wasn't as easy. That fight took some extra loveing to figure out. But victory each time. The first group going thru the snoll fight we did a dry run. We did pretty well on it but we didn't expect to win not using any two hours or salts. We got the snoll to about 1k HP shy of win, so we knew with salts and 2 hour we had it.

The second group we had limited 2 hours and limited salts. We got him to about down to about 300 HP left from what the parser says. There was a couple of hiccups that prevented the win but our 2nd group setup will easily win, just have to get some more salts and 2 hour ready.

This is a screen shot from top of moutain after we got first win.

The new Chapter begins.

Ok so last night wasn't a huge break through night or anything but i was able to get some things done. Was able to get my SMN a part after waiting about an hour of looking. Despite the level spread it wasn't a bad party. We were doing about 5.7k at our peak. I was able to obtained 2 levels last night on my summoner. If i get to play tonight it wont be long and i am not sure what all i will get finished.
So late last night i decided to head down to the ol' fire pit and craft me some yag's to try and skill up. I only have one more level to gain and actually i am .3 into that level so i hope tonight i can get .7 more skill ups getting me to 58 and i can move on to something else.

Parsing a Thief

This post isn't about bragging, and more about proving a point about Thieves (THFs).

I often hear that THFs cannot do decent damage, whether that be DOT or even WS's. Perhaps this is why I spend so much time searching for a party (or trying to build one). This stigma follows all THFs and tends to make leveling a bitch.

I finally downloaded a parser to help me tune my gear. All the guys/gals in the THF forum said it would help me by showing my ACC, damage, etc. The parser has a horrible user interface, but I digress.

So, I started parsing my parties to see how I was holding up against some other people. Now, because my parties are few and far between, because of my RL schedule, and because people never seem to want to invite a THF, so I only have two parsed parties because I have only had two since downloading the parser. I will post more as I get them.

Here are the results from those parties (click on them for the full versions):

Members from Top to Bottom:
(ignore the first two entries)
1: NIN
2: WAR
3: THF (me)
4: DRK
5: BLM
6: WHM

This parse was the first parsing I had attempted. Ignore the first two lines as they were single hits recorded by a party beside me before I changed my filter settings. Both hits were only 0.02% of the total damage for the fight, so it didn't skew the data by much. Notice I did 32% of all the damage in the party, or 31,452. The next party member was the BLM at 19,757 or 20%. Also notice that my melee ACC was only 72% - not the greatest, but better than the others in the party. The other two melee in the party were a WAR and a DRK. As a side note, I am not sure why it considered the WHM to only have taken part in one fight - perhaps they have to actually deal damage or something to be considered part of the battle. Or, maybe it is because I don't have it recording 'HP Healed' amount. But, the point is, I parsed far above the rest of the party, even the BLM.

Members from top to bottom:
1: PLD
2: DRK
3: WAR
4: RDM
5: WHM
6: THF (me)

This parse is a bit better as I was getting the hang of using the parser - again, the interface sucks. I downloaded the source for the parser so maybe, if I have some spare time, I will re-write it using .Net. But, again, I digress.

This party had a better WAR than the previous one, but the same DRK was a member of this party as well as the first. The DRK seemed to be keeping up with me by just eye-balling the damage, if not passing me because of some massive 800+ Guillotines, but, the parser told another story. The DRK parsed in at 22% of the total damage, with about 57% ACC - this was 3rd place. The WAR came in second with 30% of the total damage and 75% ACC. His normal melee (DOT) was almost as high as mine, which I find odd. His ACC was only 1% less than mine, and he was dual wielding Axes (he also had a G.Axe too which we let him use as well for a short time), while I was THF/WAR. So, I most have been a swinging fool to keep up with him - Go Triple Attack and Double Attack!! But, in first place was the THF - me. I did nearly 40% of the total damage with 76% ACC. Notice that my Skill damage, the damage from WS', as nearly twice that of the next highest member.

Again, I am not bragging. I think the other members of my parties were not very good. They were very nice people, and the parties were fun, but they seemed only average in skill and equipment. Had the party been full of better equipped individuals, I'm sure the parsing results would be different. However, I still believe I would have been a very good contender for the highest DD in the party.

The point of this post? Do NOT under estimate a THF! We have amazing DOT AND spike damage. We drop acid bolts to reduce a mob's defense, thus helping all other DD's. And, to top it off, we are helping to control hate the entire time. What is not to like about a THF?!

Crazy Weekend!

Ok so the LS i was in decided to go Social and CoP mission oriented. Which is fine by me, however a whole butt load of people just up and left. So what is left is some truley hardcore ppl which is fine but sucks that they didn't stick around just to chat even. So this past weekend i was able to get some things finished. I am now finished with two of the three paths in COP. I have gotten my summoner to 42 almost 43 this weekend my goal was 45. However putting that job on hold while i get CoP missions done was just fine.

So i scrolled thru my quest log and noticed that i had a chance to upgarde to Superior Private. That rocked so i started my search for the Warhorse Hoofprint. I decided to ask if anyone in the LS did and it just so happened Grouf was in an XP party about 10' from the Hoofprint. So he gives me the coords and i head on my way.

Tenzen Path

So last night I just gotten into a party with my summoner, when I get asked to join in Tenzen path leg of COP Mission 3 paths. So I promptly left my party after telling them COP mission has come up and started on my way to get my gear. The first area was a 50 cap and we had to go thru 16 stone doors.
Now couple of things can happen, a thf can attempt to pick the lock with a skeleton key, you can activate the stone door and nothing happen or you can spawn a Gargoyle.
This Gargoyle was a tad pissed when I nailed him, I started casting freeze a tad too soon in the fight and it didn't kill him.

After you get past the 16 doors you come to an Avatar Gate.

These cut scenes take forever but are very good in story. Next we are off to Lower Delkfutt's Tower. The Disaster Idol isn't really tough but I took him for a push over. I know for sure that a normal PT of 75's if you took the fight like any other VT XP mob you will be fine. I took him as a normal cut scene spawn NM push over. Once he got to about 80% life I thought hate was well enough established that I could start the owning process. Well two tier IV spells go off hes down to 16% so I start casting thundga III, two hits to me later I am eating dirt. LOL. I did happen to have the parser on after jetsam explained how to use it. I came in 2nd with the damage of 36.6% just behind the dragoon who did 51%.

We quickly finished him off and headed to the last part of Tenzen Path. When your going for that last avatar gate, this map is a tad tricky. But the biggest warning is once you go down the elevator make sure you have invis powder. Downstairs you will see Dirmites (that didn't agro us), pots (magic agro) and a nice goblin (sight). If you die down here and no RR it becomes a slight challenge to get up and out alive. We managed to get 4 deaths down stairs and we managed to get all out alive.

COP Promyvion - Vahzl

After finally waiting and waiting to do this mission its finally here. I must say this was an awesome time. I strongly suggest taking more than 6 people my recommendation would to take 18 people. Whats funny is that the NM's u spawn at the memory flux's are so much harder than when u fight all 3 at the same time. Promyvion - Vahzl is a tad different than previous ones. There are 5 floors instead of 3, the first two are pretty normal with the exception that the mobs are a harder. Once you get to the 3rd floor you first goal is locate Memory Flux's (pictured below). These serve two purposes 1 to spawn the NM for the floor or floor boss and second is to act as a way point should you need to come back and finish at a later point you don't have to walk all the way back up you can floor warp as long as you touch the Memory Flux after defeating the floor boss. I would recommend when going that you setup your alliance so that two or three parties can go into the battlefield all equally balanced. Anima is the key to this fight just like previous promyvion missions. Terroanima is amazing for this fight, it will cause the monster to run around for about 30 seconds doing nothing. Everyone in the party should have 1 it is so helpful. Everyone check their meds and food and RR. I brought along with me 6 yag's, apple pie +1, and a stack of muslem normal RR item's. Once your PT is ready enter

When u get into battle we started with the middle one, once the mobs are down to 20% the next one will come at you this is where you use terroanima's to auto kite that mob for 30 seconds to allow you to finish off the first one. Depending on your party u may only need 2 terro's 1 for the second and third monster. If you have less spike damage power you may need more than 1 per fight. To be safe attempt for each person to have all 3, just be safe. As a BLM in this fight my job came down to enfeebing, BIO II, Choke, Shock, Burn and poison II didn't stick. Paralyze and slow stuck on some but not all. I didn't get much nuking in until the last mob I was to worried about others and their HP and keeping enfeebs on.

After the fights if you decide to go and do all 3 paths cut scenes at once your in for about 3 hours'ish of walking and watching cut scene's. Since I personally don't read them or even know whats going on really, I couldn't careless what these are about and just seem really long. People tell me this is a great story.

I must say all taru's must stand up and revolt against SE for having a hand rail that is in the way of my beautiful taru head. This is nothing that I could control all I could do was watch in horror as my pretty taru head shots were being taken away from me. I can't believe SE would be this size intolerant.

Thought this was one of the better NPC's.

Dynamis Run

We did a dynamis run this past weekend we should have gotten a clear but for some reason when we were getting ready to pull the last NM we sat around for about 5 or 6 mins which then forced everyone to kinda rush and then mess up the run. I was however lucky enough to get these to drop.

So after dynamis run i was very anxious to go testing my new pants. I had droped from the alliance inorder to help people with warp II's so i was LFP so that some party could pick me up and i could start warping. I amazingly get a tell asking to party BLM burn. I was so shocked not only did i need to refill my buffer but would be able to get into a nice burn party. So i quickly warp'd people home and proceded to the camp. So it was lighting day and i proceded to test my new pants. Casting after casting of the same spell gets old LOL not really i like big numbers.

This is my numbers with my normal pants that i was wearing not bad with no merits. This is my more consistant number i had a couple higher that must have gotten the day bouns included.

This is my numbers with the new BLM Relic pants. Since they are free its a nice boost in damage and my numbers didn't seem to vary as much. It was a pretty consistant.

They Call Me the Samurai Summoner!

Ok to start off this was the most disfunctional functioning party I have ever been in, let me explain. Half were great players the other half were idiots. To start off the good side, nin was outstanding to be only level 35ish (when we started) and to understand how to hold hate that well I was impressed. The next job we had was a blm she also was 35 she amazingly understood how to magic burst and she was good at the odd cure here and there. Then there was me, well what else can I say almost flawless (LOL I am not perfect but I know how to play my jobs normally).

Ok now on to the dimwits who wanted to waste my time. I look over and we have two players who are using sneak attack at first I think ok we have two THF's no problem lots of spike damage. Then I notice wait one is using a sword and the other is using a great axe. Cool no problem at least they are not /nin (nothing wrong with the sub just gets old that everyone uses it for everything). So I do a quick check of them and notice that we have a taru Dark/thf who is using a great axe in his 35's. Then onto the next dingbat who is a THF 35/ war 6! Who on top of that is using s SWORD. I sent both a tell asking the drk why he doesn't use great sword or scythe and the thf why he isn't using dagger. They both send back to me something along the lines of "To Weak" or whatever it says in the auto translate. This is when I start to fully pay attention to how much damage these two are doing. The dark would use Sneak Attack Strumwind and do an amazing 126 points of damage, on my war while still in the 29's my strumwind did 260 on a mandy without sneak attack. Next the THF and his amazing sword skills, I seriously don't think he ever broke a 200 point damage WS. Also they never skilled chained for the first hour no one in the PT ever talked about skill chains.

Next onto the 3rd and final member of idiots. Another summoner at first your thinking well ok this can work we can alternate buffs and damage pacts and rock out some nice damage. I tried at first to watch what the other smn and get timing right so we can always keep up some buff's. Well the other smn did an amazing job at casting garuda AOE blink release cure, garuda AOE blink release cure. That was it she never did a rage BP and at the very end of the PT she used her two hour ONCE when u have about 3 mins to use it again.

Ok so now on to the fun part sorry about all the BS but I had to get it off my chest. This is why they call me the Samurai Summoner. Since the party wasn't skill chaining I thought I would. So I started playing with timing and I was able to pull off 3 skill chains with each melee person. I only got two of the SC's because the THF got stupid and started using his weapon skills right after we would nail a nice skill chain. So the 3 skill chains we pulled off were two Detonation's and 1 Fragmentation.
I had no idea Titan was such an animal against bats. Megalith Throw what ever kinda of attack it is must have a bouns on bat types, much like monks on skeletons. No other avatar would hit this number consistently.

Riverne Site B01

I had done this a while back but some people in the LS needed it. So we set out and went twice thru this mission really easy with some BLM's. The second run took place on a 2nd day so we had to re-farm another giant scale. Well I screwed up and pulled a dragon without everyone being ready so I wiped us there and no one had RR items up. So quick HP and come back and throw out some raises, were good to go.

So when you zone into the fight you see this impressive cut scene with dragons.

This is the lackey that is sent to stop us from progressing in COP, he is really a push over when you come prepared and don't panic.
This is me and big ugly!

This was my average damage on Ouryu. He's fairly weak to magic and very easy to sleep. Overall fun fight for BLM's we get to do a lot this fight and very important to have people who can provoke him off the mages.

Divine Might!

I have been wanting to do this fight for sometime now. For those who dont know its two-fold fight you can do this fight in order to complete a ZM mission and the bonus item is that you get an extra earring. This is not an easy fight its 18 players on 5 computer players.

Each one of them has two job types and are very strong. My job as a BLM was to take out the floating Tarutaru, as fast as possible. Then move on to the other ones.

Ok so after our first attempt was a complete wipe and loss we go in again and retry this not only did we kick ass the 2nd time but.

This was about my highest peak damage but all were around this number not to many resist.
