The Taru's Get a Facelift

Well, I finally upgraded the template for this blog to their "new and improved" system. It broke all the customizations I had done to the previous template, but it wasn't too painful adding them back.

We also added some other fun things like pics of ourselves and a new banner. More to come!

Small Update

Ok want to say thanks to several people for helping me get spells or try to get spells. My blu is 40 now and i have all my spells with the exception of mysterious light. I am starting to understand the pains of BLU and its spell learning. I have an desire to just level like many other BLU's and worry about getting spells later. Some say that if i level to far past a spell its harder to get, i can see how that would matter in some ways. But it would seem that if i am high level skill cap that i should be able to learn easier. I am basing this on me learning sand spin a level 1 move while i was in qufim solo'ing worms at lvl 23.

Last night we had a Promie Mea farming party we got 5 drops of anima plus some ppl already have some. So with this many anima and 1 possibly 2 SMN's this for for Mea should be a WIN. Will have pics of event and hopefully a win tomorrow.

Quest for Diabolos Whoreing!

I have put my 61 War down for a short break while getting Blu to 40. This move is a two fold attack. One allows time for all my old gear to sell and allows me to get Blu to 40 which will make getting past COP Diabolos fight very easy. My goals are closing finishing up after having a nice long break over the weekend. I was able to get blu from 9 - 25 and camped most of the spells i logged out last night at the right spot for my next spell. I camped a NM for a sweet sword on my Blu and got the drop.

Check out this one last screen shot of a Gigas i think its pretty funny and speaks for itself.

Evisceration

This post won't be the most exciting because I do not have access to all my screenshots - so, no fun pictures. However, when almost 12 people tromped on down to Gustav Tunnel to help me out with the Evisceration notorious monster, it was a ton of fun (and death).

After Jedi, and Lopsider for a portion of it, helped me break the latent on my trial dagger I just had to fight the NM to get my weapons skill. So, one night I mentioned it in the linkshell and Jean agreed to help. Soon, we had a few other people. A bit later, we had a full party. Jean was the only healer as a RDM/WHM. Also attending was Bassetto (MNK), Aricelia (DRK), Jedi (WAR), Coldwind (PLD) and myself. We didn't have a tele, so I changed to THF/WHM and teleported. At this point I realized that I had no way to warp back. So, we decided that it was okay for me to continue on as /WHM.

We headed down in to the tunnel and made our way to the camp. We cleared one crab from a tunnel and proceeded to pull the NM. The fight was going well - despite the fact the bat hit very hard. Unfortunately, a Doom Mage got too close and decided to drop two people with a Thunderga III. Slowly, we dropped one by one. Luckily, my /WHM saved us. I had cast reraise before the fight. After waiting for the skeletons to move out of blood aggro range, I raised up, quickly healed myself and got enough MP for sneak. Once done, I lurked in the middle of the little tunnel we called home. The crab popped again shortly after complicating the matter. Oy! Through some quick thinking by Jean, we were able to get her back up - so, Jean and myself were alive, but still in danger. At this point I enlisted the help of another player who was camping a NM in the area. He pulled the crab long enough for us to get people up and in relatively decent shape.

At this point, Hyourin (PLD) and Ron (SAM) decided to join in the fun. Also, SaintsFan was also in the area and traded my assistance for his. I sac pulled the PH for Unger for him and he agreed to help us out - although we had plenty at this point.

So, we returned and pulled the bat again. We stayed inside the tunnel more this time and won easily.

I'll post the screenshots soon! Thanks again to everyone that helped out!

I'm Alive!

It has been a slow time for the blog lately, although I have been getting a lot done in the game.

To name a few items:
Those are just a few of the things which have been going on in the game. While there is a lot of gil to be spent at 72 (Blau Dolch, Dusk gear, oy!) I am going to push onward to 75 first, then backtrack for the items. Or, I will at least get 74 so I have access to Ni with my /NIN. Then I can tank some otherwise untankable NM's.

See ya in the game!

Weekend Goals

Real Life Goals:

Dinner and movie with the wife tonight. Kids at the grand parents WOOT.

Finish up porch railing and making gates.

Start to put up chain link fence now that the post are solid in the ground.

Game Goals:

War AF set completed

Attempt BCNM for Assault Earring

Attempt BCNM for Spike Finger Gaultents

Attempt ENM for Kshama Ring No. 8

Craft Cooking to 60+

Warifick!

My march to 60 might be paused for cash making. After, being given next to 9 mil gil i have blown thru it with items that are resell able at a later date but leave me currently semi poor. After tonight i will have close to 1 mil on the AH. Last nights party came quite quick and i have hope for the party. The first setup was Drk/nin, War/nin X2, Pld/war, Rdm/whm, Whm/blm. I was puller for most of the parties and when i checked the mobs they compared as neutral evi or low evi so i figured i could pop some meat and be good. This was a mistake and half, my acc for the next two hours (yes two i ate a 1 hour meat twice because i didn't pay attention) was around 68%. However with 1 sushi and 30 min my acc climbed to 71% so i was very impressed with the results this also allowed me to pass the dark who was killing me before.

Then after the Drk left we changed over to a Blu for about 3 fights, he was quickly replaced by an even worse THF. This setup didn't last long just long enough for replacements to come to remove the bad seeds.

Finally we got down to a set party that was good. I forgot to reset the parser so there are some left over numbers in there but you get the idea from the numbers.

Some key moments from the party i am very proud of:

This is what happens when you pull to much hate and the entire party is silenced and the poor mages have run out of echo drops. =( But thru my death the rest of the PT lived so it was worth it.

Moving on UP!

Got to 48 over the long weekend. Taking a break to get new gear and sell old stuff. Had a very lucky weekend also, an in-game friend quit and i just happened to be in the right place at the right time. He's leaving allowed me to purchase some very nice added bonus for my War and Blm.

Anyway had two great parties yesterday first party was in the morning was with some LS mates. We had a brd in the party which was amazing but sadly the brd DC'd and after about 10 mins of waiting we got a 6th memeber from the LS to come down to camp we kept going for about an hour longer.

Second party had me kinda shaking in my boots, from a damage stand point wasn't sure i would be able to keep up. Our party had a war/nin, rng/nin, nin/war, war/nin.

Posting War Data

Not much going on - helped some people get through ToAU missions so we can start salvage soon. My war was out damaged by a ranger, =( however i did spend 3 fights face down eating dirt.

Caught me showing a little Taru leg.

I was just behind the ranger in damage but i think i would have passed him had i been alive for the other 3 fights.

The Black Coffin

Yesterday, a few of us finished up with some of the ToAH missions so that we may take part in Salvage. It was a conglomerate of Moogle Army members and Rayneblood, a Guts member. We first completed ToAH Mission 13 which is an easy NM fight to get a coin to allow us onto the Black Coffin, the dreaded pirate ship lurking in the waters around Aht Urhgan.

Once complete, we headed off toward the Black Coffin. Sadly, it involved a staging point which I did not have - the last of mine to get. So, I slowed everyone down as I marched my little Tarutaru butt through the undead invested regions of the Mire and the Reef to get my Runic Portal. On the way, a Soulflayer decided to True Sound me and start casting Thunder IV on me. I ran out of range, without ever losing Sneak and Invisible, and continued. He chased me through the Reef, but continued to try to cast long duration spells, allowing me to always run away before the spell cast. Anyway, I made it to the point without further incident, even with Mr. Sunshine on my heels. (You may note that the link shows that a Soulflayer is 'True Sight'. Needless to say, he aggroed me from behind his back. Some people say there are literally true sight and true sound mobs. That being the case, this one is definitely sound based, or both.)

Once at the Black Coffin, we watched the cutscenes then tried to enter. Flotsam was missing the coin so he had to drop and we tried it with only 5 people. The only healer, other than the PLD's own healing skills, was a BLM. The basic plan was Jedi (WAR) and myself (THF) were to duo the mobs while the PLD, BLM and DRK focused on another. Jedi and I rocked through two of the mobs while Maddox (BLM) was on sleep/heal/nuke duty. We easily got through the first wave but failed to allow the BLM to rest MP back before taking on the second wave of undead. The captain was at around 50% HP when we wiped. We just didn't have enough healing power, and failed to sleep the second group as easily as the first.

We all returned to get some coins and fought the mission again, with only 5 - we picked up Flotsam (BLM) and lost a DRK. The fight went very smoothly with no difficulty.

Congratulations to everyone for a fun fight.

RE: Flot's Warmazing!!

In response to Flotsam's "Flot's Warmazing!" post, I submit exhibit A:

( ... and on a beetle, no less - lol)
(I know I am an ass haha)

Flotsam And Jetsam Meet Death From Above

Flot decided to help me camp for my Hornetneedle, although I am very beyond the point on my THF where I should be using it. There are other alternatives at this point, but I still wanted it in my /inv.

Death From Above is a popped spawn, but we had no idea he hit like he did. Imagine a MNK using 100 Fists then haste about 100%. This thing was like a chipmonk on crack.

But, Flotsam summed it up very eloquently, as he always does. =)

Git, Goobbue!

No! This is my tree root and you can't have it, betch!

(me playing with Goobbues)

I am alive, but Balu isn't

I can't let Flotsam post all the posts. But, my FFXI time has been fairly boring. Balu and I have been spending a lot of time out in M.Coast hunting Odqan for my elusive Bravo Subligar. While I know he has a very shitty drop rate, he is still fun to camp. Although, it is very hard sometimes to know if it is foggy out. I only know because I can see other Clusters on widescan.

Here is my trusted companion, sporting some fine Seer Slacks which looks awesome with his Gold Armor set.

Here are some fun shots of Balu and I fighting him. Sadly, Balu fell in battle once when Odqan whipped out a Self-Destruct early in the fight.

Flot's Warmazing!!

I am almost to the point where i will be temp stopping at 40ish range for my AF weapon and to allow time for old gear to sell and obtaining new gear. Being a war is very fun i can do massive damage and have much more survivability than a BLM. The party invites are very slow i was expecting a higher invite rate.

This was by far my best weapon skill damage.
Just ding'd over to 39 on my way to 40. WOOT.

Corpse and his RDM AF

Corpse was also in need of some AF mob killing, so we headed over to Davoi. After running for days it seemed we arrived at the spot killed a couple mobs and waited for NM to spawn. Killed him quickly and Corpse got his RDM AF.

"Peck"ing on Dark Spark

So Peck and Deana, both needed Dark Spark. When we get there we are talking about what TP moves he does, i forget who said that he will self-destruct but i had never seen it, so we assumed it was a very rare thing. We start fighting and then about 10% left he decides to self-destruct. We all lived so it was fun times, and everyone got the AF they needed. I will see you soon also Dark Spark when i come for my War AF.

The Amazing FLOT!

My party last night consisted of 2 PL's, 2 war's (one was me), 1 NIN, 1 PLD/nin, 1 Cor, 1 BLM/smn who was dual boxing with one of the PL's. My goal here was to keep pace with the Elvaan War/NIN and me as a Taru War/THF.

Damage wise i think i held my own. I almost achieved my goal of level 35 War last night. If we hadn't taken so long to get started i might have gotten to 35.

New Parser

Kalia has released a new parser which looks cleaner than Tazz's. Also, Kalia's updates immediately as you play.

You can get the new parser here. Or, you can visit the blog for the parser here.

I have yet to try it, but it is getting glowing reviews; we will see later tonight hopefully.

UPDATE: After messing around with the parser, I can say it has potential, but it is still fairly new and missing some nice things. It doesn't parse everything, for one, which is a big issue. Thus, if you want a fully parsed fight you need to use another parser. But, it is good if you want to see things like your ACC, your damage (remember you can't really compare it to other party members at this point) and things like that. Overall, I think it will be better than the other parsers out there once it is done.

Taking up Warrior

My love for warrior has caused me to stop lvling THF and sell all my THF gear. I can tell u this my THF compared to my WAR at this lvl are so far apart in damage its not funny. Now one thing that hurt me was when i got a PT i was in a rush so my gear isn't as uber as it should have been. Warrior's weapon skills are very heavy on the STR part so i have to get a STR build, for my WS and maybe just normal melee's. So for now this is my current parsed data not bad but does need work.
